Discussion:
Can I increase the number of party guests allowed?

I'm playing Sims 2 on my laptop, which is admittedly
not quite enough computer for it. However, most of
the time it runs pretty smoothly. I have two people
in my current Sim family, and whenever they give a party,
they are only allowed to invite two guests. Now I have
played larger families than that, and visited community
lots with more than four sims with no negative effects.
Is there a way to increase how many guests the game
will allow me to invite to a party?

Yes. Open the cheat window and type

intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims (#)

with the # being whatever number you want to be able to invite. You can
include this line in your userstartup.cheat file in My Documents/EA
Games/The Sims2/Config so that you don't have to enter it every time you
fire up the game. If you don't have a userstartup.cheat file, just create a
text document in Notepad and save it that way. Keep in mind, though, that
the more sims you have on a lot, the slower your computer will run. I have
the same problem. I solve it by using smaller lots with fewer objects on
them. It means you might have to build your own community lots, but at
least you'll have more sims running around on them.

I forgot to mention that you have to type this cheat in while you are still
in the neighborhood view, BEFORE you enter a lot. That's another reason why
it's a good idea to include it in your userstartup.cheat file. It's a PITA
if you decide to have a wedding or something in the middle of playing.

Thanks, Jeanie! I knew there was a way to automatically start
cheats when you started the game, but I didn't know how to do it
before.
