Discussion:
Anyone know about a new add-on for Sim City Society?

I saw a box of 5 or 6 Sim City games, Sim 4 and Society and other things, but it
also had an expansion for Societies... something about tourists or something...

Any info appreciated!

SimCity Societies: Destinations.

Review here:

(you may need to cut and paste the above in your browser if it doesn't wrap
properly).

It scored a 7, and they praise the number of improvements the pack actually
adds to the core game.

I read in the TiltedMill forum that it will not be released on disc, and is
only available as a download from EA.

It looks like EA will stop at nothing to get SecuROM on everybody's PCs. I
wonder if they've found a way to retro-patch their games to stop working
after three installations? I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

If they have, they haven't used it yet. I've certanly installed the Sims games more than
three times without any problems. And so far Securom has never installed anything on the
computer.

As I understand it from reading through forums, this "feature" is
supposed to be present in Apartment Life and The Sims 3.

The potential for it to stop me from installing it more than three times
does bother me. I have had to reinstall Sims in the past and upgraded my
computer as well. Because of the length of time it takes for the whole
series to come out I will have had three desktops by the end. So although I
am quite strict about not lending my games out and only use them on one
computer I would wind up having a problem and I don't see that as a
reasonable one to have given how much we pay for the games.

And how long do you suppose it will take the pirates to crack that feature? 10 minutes? I
wish EA good luck with that one, they're going to need it...

If it's true, then that's what I'm counting on. LOL I've learned to
always depend on the Sims community to fix what's wrong in the game
months before EA will issue a patch. I'll be keeping my eye on the
forums at MATY for information about it before I buy.

Same here. If I buy a game I expect to be able to install it whenever I
wish, it's my game. I just installed everything twice over on my pc. Once
for the new HD and innards, and the second time because it had a fault and
we reformatted while trying to find the fault. If they don't take
situations like that as normal usage, which lap up the 3 times pretty fast
( the original must have been installed about 5 or 6 by now ), I'm going
pirate without any guilt. I don't mean I wouldn't buy - but I do mean I
will get the fixes I need to play the game I paid for. The alternative is
to just walk away. It's a great way to lose fans, isn' it.

If they really do this, isn't it going to be a disaster for the EA support guys? I mean,
their advice is always to reinstall the game isn't it:-)

Yes, and that's the main reason why I don't really believe it will be
like that. It is ludicrous to expect people to pay full price for a
game they can only use for a limited amount of time. The few times I
have contacted EA support (before I discovered MATY and other sites like
that) they told me to uninstall and reinstall the game. That's the only
solution they know how to give!
